A new survey by Pearl.com revealed that over 22% of Americans followed medical advice from AI that turned out to be wrong, with many losing money or delaying real care. Another 23% said they trust AI more than doctors — highlighting a growing shift in medical decision-making. • Nearly 1 in 4 respondents trust AI more than medical professionals, and 10% would take AI’s cancer treatment advice over a doctor’s.

• Experts like Dr. Kumar Dharmarajan and Dr. Anant Vinjamoori note that while AI is improving, it still struggles with patient-specific nuance and uncertainty.

The findings reveal a dangerous overreliance on AI for life-and-death decisions. As healthcare costs rise, many Americans are turning to free AI tools — even when they’re unregulated and prone to errors. While AI promises greater access and personalization, it can’t yet replicate a doctor’s judgment or empathy.
