Big News: Our New Program Is Live!!!

Healthcare is changing faster than ever. From AI tools that process claims in seconds, to predictive models that identify high-risk patients before complications happen, the message is clear: AI is already reshaping care delivery.
But here’s the challenge:
Many AI tools are overhyped without evidence.
Implementation often fails because leaders don’t understand the unique complexities of healthcare.
Ethical and trust concerns still remain at the center.
That’s exactly why I created Become the Human in the Loop in Healthcare AI — a program designed for health leaders, executives, and non-technical professionals who want to lead responsibly in this new era.

Over the next year, Roku predicts that 100% of the streaming audience will see ads. For growth marketers in 2026, CTV will remain an important “safe space” as AI creates widespread disruption in the search and social channels. Plus, easier access to self-serve CTV ad buying tools and targeting options will lead to a surge in locally-targeted streaming campaigns.
Read our guide to find out why growth marketers should make sure CTV is part of their 2026 media mix.

1. Perplexity Accused of “Stealing Content” — NYT Escalates the War on AI Scraping
The New York Times has filed a lawsuit against Perplexity, accusing the AI startup of using its articles without permission and reproducing paywalled content in chat responses. This marks the Times’ second major lawsuit against an AI company and highlights growing tensions between publishers and AI firms over copyright, licensing, and fair compensation.

The Details:
The Times says Perplexity’s AI products substitute for its journalism and reproduce summaries, near-verbatim text, and paywalled content.
Perplexity’s retrieval-augmented generation system is accused of crawling sites, bypassing paywalls, and repackaging copyrighted material.
Media outlets like the Chicago Tribune, News Corp, Britannica, Reddit, and others have filed similar complaints.
The Times argues that Perplexity damages its brand by hallucinating information and falsely attributing quotes to the outlet.
Why it Matters:
This lawsuit is part of a broader battle over who gets paid when AI systems train on and reuse copyrighted content. Publishers are pushing for licensing deals to protect their economic future, while AI companies argue fair use. With multiple lawsuits underway — including the Times’ case against OpenAI and Microsoft — the outcome could define the legal boundaries of AI training, scraping, and content reproduction for years. The stakes are enormous: the ruling will shape whether journalism thrives or is eroded in the AI era.

2. ChatGPT Hits Its First Slowdown as Gemini Surges Ahead
A new Sensor Tower report shows that ChatGPT’s user growth is slowing, even as it remains the market leader in mobile AI usage. Meanwhile, Google’s Gemini is rapidly gaining momentum in downloads, engagement, and monthly active users—suggesting a narrowing gap in the global AI chatbot race.

The Details:
ChatGPT still holds 50% of global downloads and 55% of monthly active users but saw only 6% MAU growth from August to November.
Gemini’s MAUs grew 30% in the same period, driven largely by its viral image model, Nano Banana.
Android integration gives Gemini a structural advantage, as twice as many U.S. Android users access Gemini through the OS instead of the app.
Rivals like Perplexity and Claude are also accelerating, with year-over-year growth of 370% and 190%.
Why it Matters:
The AI chatbot market is no longer a one-player story. ChatGPT’s slowing growth could signal early market saturation just as competitors ramp up innovation and OS-level integrations. Gemini’s rapid climb—especially in user engagement—shows Google’s strategy is working. But the race remains volatile: a single breakthrough product from OpenAI could quickly shift momentum again. In this new phase, speed of innovation—not just scale—will determine the next AI leader.

3. Trump Moves to Block State AI Laws With New “ONE RULE” Executive Order
President Trump announced he will sign an executive order blocking states from passing their own AI regulations, arguing that a single national rulebook is necessary to preserve U.S. leadership in AI. The move immediately triggered bipartisan backlash from lawmakers who say the plan hands too much power to tech companies and undermines state protections.

The Details:
Trump says state-by-state rules would “destroy AI in its infancy” and wants one unified federal standard.
The proposed order would challenge state AI laws in court, direct agencies to weaken “onerous” regulations, and give David Sacks major influence over national AI policy.
Lawmakers from both parties argue the plan is federal overreach and would block states from protecting consumers, children, and workers.
The backlash comes as states push their own AI laws, including bills focused on safety, transparency, and deepfake protections.
Why it Matters:
This is shaping up to be the biggest political fight over AI governance in the U.S. If the federal government overrides state authority, it could dramatically reshape regulation — strengthening Silicon Valley’s influence while limiting local safeguards. With rising concerns about AI harms, mental-health risks, misinformation, deepfakes, and job displacement, states argue they need the freedom to act. Trump’s order could redefine who controls AI oversight in America — and how far tech companies can operate without constraint.

𝐈 𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭...
That’s the part most people misunderstand about AI in healthcare.
It’s not malicious, and it’s not “breaking rules.”
It’s simply optimizing for whatever rules we gave it…
Even if those rules were incomplete, biased, or poorly designed.
And in medicine, those loopholes look like:
- Missing clinical context
- Oversimplified protocols
- Messy or mislabeled data
- Narrow training populations
- Silent assumptions we didn’t realize we encoded
The algorithm doesn’t know it’s doing something unsafe.
It just knows it’s doing exactly what we rewarded it for.
And that’s why humans-in-the-loop aren’t optional
They’re the guardrails!!
AI isn’t dangerous because it cheats.
It’s dangerous because it obeys too literally.
If we want safe, trustworthy healthcare AI, we don’t just need better models…
What we need is...
- better design,
- better oversight, and
- people who understand where those loopholes live.
Because patients don’t pay the price for the algorithm’s mistake
they pay the price for ours.
